Scanning files Stopped
  • kaagencykaagency December 2011

    Hi there,
Running a Deep Scan right now on a 1T WD Harddrive. I place a tun of files on it yesterday, and most of them just vanished. It has currently scanned 24% and there is approx. 7 hours left on the scan. The problem is, for instance, when I was at 10%, the files recovered were showing up real time at a crazy fast speed, ex. it found 3,169 photos...but this number has not budged in the past 2 hours!

I thought it was because I was using the Basic version - so I went ahead an payed for the Pro. But nothing has changed.
Could somebody please help me out, or let me know what could be happening.
    Thanks!
    Ashley

Probably Disk Drill keeps scanning the empty space of your drive. Has the scan really stopped, or it just doesn't find new files any more?

    Hi, thx for the answer.
It is still scanning. It just is not finding any more files!...which there are lots more for sure. But definitely my drive is not full yet (1T) so maybe it is scanning the empty space? it's been doing this for a long time now...going on 5 hours.

Why are you so sure? How exactly did you lose your data?

'tun' is rather vague. Do you mean 'many' as in over 6,000, or large as in 1.4 gigs each? The larger the files, the longer it takes to gather up all the pieces of the files. Locating a file header does nto mean that the entire file has been recovered. If you stop the scan before it has ended you can easily end up with broken files, or fragments. Be patient! Perhaps the drive failed. You did say WD, right? But perhaps not. But give DD all the time it needs to do as good as it can. Otherwise you will end up with junk.
